Abstract
The war in Ukraine has given rise to new global challenges and threats, with ambiguous effects on European integration, underscoring the necessity to strengthen European strategic autonomy. This paradigm shift is provoking changes in strategies, dynamics, and preferences in security and defense, thereby transforming the current scenario in the context of European integration. Through a qualitative methodology, this article aims to analyze the new European security strategy and the effectiveness of its main political, industrial, and operational dimensions as applied to the War in Ukraine. This analysis addresses two significant issues: the role of the European Union as an international security provider in the Ukrainian context and the implications for integration in the field of European security and defense.
