Abstract
Colombia has signed a peace agreement with the longest and destabilizing terrorist group that has existed over the past 60 years. The execution of these agreements will be made as part of a transition process that mark the evolution from a state of conflict to one of development, stability and peace. Transition processes are constructed over sub - processes that found to create and develop the foundation for reconciliation, trust and social ties to ensure the sustainability and durability of peace. The Security System Reform –SSR- is one of those. SSR should generate security institutions able to protect human rights, ensure the rule of law and provide validity and legitimacy to the state. This article describes from the conceptual revision of the Security System Reform and the security sector evolution in Colombia; to determine which should be the scope of Colombia`s SSR, in order to fulfill its strategic objective.
